A Warm Hello!
Welcome to my blog. My name is Sej and I'm the woman behind the lens.
For all of you who are visiting for the first time, thank you for stopping by. Here’s a little bit about me:
I fell in love with photography, poetry and theater when I was ten, after my parents gifted me a film camera and a thick blue Japanese-paper notebook to write in
I started photographing then, and I started writing plays at age twelve—casting for, producing, and directing the final performances. Although I studied poetry, fiction and screenwriting during my MFA years at USC, screenwriting ultimately became my major.
In addition to being a portrait photographer and filmmaker, I am also an exhibiting artist, with private collectors worldwide. My work was recently exhibited at John Wayne Airport in OC.
I’m drawn to beauty, innocence, power-in-vulnerability and raw femininity and I try to portray that in my portraits and films That’s one of the reasons I work primarily with women and/or musicians and dancers
I spend most of my days writing, traveling, conceptualizing series, completing on-going projects (my documentary film atm) and love every minute of it.
My work allows me to share beauty in this world, shift perspectives and expand people’s thinking through art, and I can't imagine doing anything else.
I'm also an avid reader, traveler, adventurer obsessed with exploring new worlds, concepts and philosophies every time I get a chance
I'm inherently drawn to the Vedic philosophy. And meditation, mantras, chanting, Ayurveda, and Vedic astrology are all a big part of my daily life.
Thank you for following along on my journey and many more to come. Welcome aboard!
